Marketing yourself in Slow Season
For many of us, it’s officially slow season!
If you work in the service or hospitality industry, during this time after Christmas there often isn’t as much work booked in where many of us, including myself, have less money to spend after the busy festive period, or just because it’s not a popular time of year to engage in our services.
I know there are many Wedding Suppliers out there who are run ragged during the spring and summer seasons, but roll around to winter time, there just aren’t as many weddings taking place. The same can be said for family photographers! Most of our families want dreamy golden hour shoots on those long, warm summer’s evenings. Let’s be honest; the end of January has it beautiful moments, but it’s not quite the same vibe! Haha!
So, how do we make sure we’re getting the most out of our down time? I’d argue, that this is the perfect time to be readying yourself for the year ahead. It might be oh so tempting, to doss about on the sofa binging Wednesday on Netflix, but it’s also probably not the best use of our time. Having said that, there is always a need for rest, rest can increase your productivity after, but how do we know when it’s time get back in to the groove of things?
Here’s how I’m going to be using my Slow Season to work on my marketing for 2023.
Growing my mailing list. If my Instagram & Pinterest were to disappear, I’d lose all of my wonderful clients and I can’t let that happen! It’s also an awesome way to pop in to their inboxes once a month and say Hey.
Making connections with other business owners. We can all learn from each other and you might also get a cheeky referral.
Drafting out my blog & social media posts. They might not be the final article, but at least I’ll have the bones of my posts, which makes it much easier later on.
Educating myself on marketing. I blooming love a podcast, so finding marketing podcasts to listen to are perfect when getting on with other jobs.
Revisiting my SEO- researching key phrases and key words and targeting my blog posts with key these. SEO is definitely something I need to get better at this year!
So, how are you going to use your slow season? I’d love you to leave me a comment and let me know ✌🏻
